Description
The Enterprise Monitoring Technical Consultant III is responsible for delivering and supporting large-scale system, application, service and business activity monitoring solutions. This position involves the deployment and support of the tools to monitor client's systems and applications. This individual utilizes a variety of monitoring tools and performs basic programming and script writing to adjust thresholds and/or enhance the functionality of the monitoring tools as needed. This individual ensures that all hardware, operating systems, software systems and applications adhere to organizational key threshold measurements, performance indicators, and service level best practices.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, administers, implements and supports Enterprise Monitoring and Application Management systems as a member of a multi-discipline team.
Manages requests for monitoring services from the organization including new implementations, enhancements to existing solutions, customized solutions and reporting in full compliance with HP Quality Management System requirements
Reviews system requirements and application dependencies to determine monitoring configuration needed
Assists in triage and incident management with collection and analysis of performance metrics as-required to diagnoses system problems and in collaboration with other technology professionals to determine root cause in a timely manner
Engages with all stakeholders on process integration with the monitoring solutions
Follows incident, problem and change management processes related to technology infrastructure being supported
Collaborates with project managers, architects and all levels of management to execute on strategic and tactical goals
Contributes to the research and assessment of industry standards in the areas of application performance management, business service management, infrastructure monitoring and predictive analytics
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Minimum of 3+ years' system administration of Enterprise Monitoring Systems.
Minimum of 3+ years of experience with HP Application and Server Management products: HP BAC/BSM, HP SiteScope, HP
Business Process Monitor, HP Real User Monitor, HP OMi, HP Operations Manager/Openview
Minimum of 3+ years of Windows / Linux administration experience (including Solaris and RedHat Linux) in an enterprise environment demonstrating strong technical abilities with administration of the OS.
Knowledge of SNMP
Experience with ticketing systems (HP Service Manager, HP Service Center, Remedy, ServiceNow)
Incident and Event Management experience
Knowledge of Enterprise Monitoring metrics and best practices.
Experience with Enterprise logging tools and best practices.
Experience with one or more of the following, Windows Powershell scripting, SQL scripting, Linux shell scripting, Java, Java Script, C++, Visual Basic, or Perl
Ability to use and administer CLI Linux and Windows systems.
Qualifications
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
ITIL Certification
In depth knowledge of HP’s event management product suite
MSCE, and other technical Certifications preferred
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems
